About CAC by Clinical Audit Compass®
CAC is a clinician-led mobile platform that helps healthcare professionals capture real clinical work as structured, governance-aligned evidence for appraisal, revalidation, CPD and professional development, without adding unnecessary admin or disrupting patient care.
Every registered clinician in the UK is required to evidence their practice. Yet most existing tools are fragmented, profession-specific, or rely on free-text entry that produces poor-quality records and inconsistent documentation. Reflection and audit become retrospective tick-box exercises, disconnected from the work clinicians actually do.
CAC was built to change that.
The platform provides a structured, dropdown-driven framework that reflects how clinicians actually work. It supports the logging of clinical encounters, interventions, prescribing, outcomes, audit cycles and reflective practice, mapped to scope of practice, professional role and the expectations of all eight UK regulatory bodies, across more than 60 professions.
Rather than generating artificial learning, Clinical Audit Compass captures genuine clinical practice, turning everyday decisions into meaningful, defensible evidence.
Making clinical practice visible, defensible and ready when it matters.
Why Clinical Audit Compass?
Clinical Audit Compass is not an AI replacement for clinical thinking. It is a trusted, governance-aligned framework that helps clinicians show what they actually do, clearly, safely and confidently.
Our Vision
To make audit, reflection and professional development a natural by-product of everyday clinical practice, not an added burden. Every clinician should be able to evidence their competence with confidence, and every patient benefits when they can.
Meet the Founder: Nathan Thomson

Clinical Audit Compass was created by Nathan Thomson, an HCPC-registered Advanced Paramedic Practitioner who has worked in frontline care since 2015. His work spans emergency response, remote clinical consultation and out-of-hours primary care. He holds an MSc in Advanced Paramedic Practice, teaches as a BASICS Scotland instructor, and acts as the company's Clinical Safety Officer, so clinical safety is built into the platform from the start rather than added later.
Throughout his career, Nathan has seen how difficult it can be to organise clinical logs, CPD, audit and reflective practice in a way that reflects real work and meets the standards regulators actually require. Evidence was scattered across notebooks, spreadsheets and systems that were never designed for the job.
Clinical Audit Compass is the tool he wished he'd always had, built to be available to every regulated clinician in the UK.
